Series Rules and Point System
Team
Establishment
Teams and their series category (2-person, 4-person) will be established
by the first race in which they compete.
Teams of the same name may exist, provided they are in different scoring
categories.
(e.g. Team ACME – 2 person, Team ACME – 4 person.)
Points
totals and category will follow the name of the team. Points cannot be
transferred to a different team name, nor split between members of a team
during the season.
Teams under the chosen name in later races must be made up of at least
2 of the people from the original team. This means that 2 person teams
must remain constant throughout the season, while 4-person teams must
have at least 2 of the original members for each race.
Scoring
Points will be awarded as follows:
4-Person scoring:
Ranked,
finishing teams: MAX: 100
The winning 4-person team will receive 100 points toward the series championship.
Each subsequent finisher will receive points based on a decrement of one
from the preceding finisher. Therefore, 2nd place would receive 99, 3rd
would receive 98, and so on.
Unranked, finishing teams MAX: 50
(if allowed by individual race rules)
4-Person teams that are unranked due to losing a team member (no less
than 3 people) are still in the running for series points, even if not
in the running for individual race ranking. However, the score they receive
will be based on the score of the final ranked finisher and decremented
from there by one for each subsequent unranked finisher, and then divided
by 2. The unranked status will be noted for tiebreaking purposes at the
end of the season. For example, say there were 25 ranked finishers, this
means that the last place finisher got 76 points. The first finishing
unranked team would then get 75/2 = 37.5 points and a “DQ”
status for that race.
(Note: This will provide incentive for teams to continue on by giving
them more points than those who decide to completely drop out.)
Teams that are removed from the course for violations: MAX: 0
ZERO points
Teams that start but do not finish due to circumstances other than violations:
MAX: 10
10 points
Ties:
Teams that may finish in a tie during a race will average the places they
would have finished sequentially and divide the points among them equally,
with the next team taking the next available position and points. (Ex:
two teams tie for 3rd place. Take 3rd and 4th place points total = 195
and divide by two. 97.5 points each and the next team that finishes takes
fifth place for 96 points.)
2-Person scoring:
Two person team scoring is exactly the same as for 4-person.
Series
Champion
The series championship will be awarded to the team in each category with
the most accumulated points from the current calendar year. Series recognition
will be awarded to the top 3 places at the series championship race. In
the case of a tie, the team with the fewest unranked finishes will be
recognized. If no unranked finishes are noted, then, in order, highest
place in a race, most races attended, and fewest penalties, will be used
to designate the winner points collection.
Team points and totals will be judged and verified by series member organizations
and the results posted on the series website for display.
* Rules may be subject to
change, competitors are responsible for reviewing finalized documents
to be posted on this site.
